The Black Walnut Catering Co strives to be Langley’s premier catering service. We specialize in menus that feature the very best local, fresh and seasonal ingredients from our partners in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. We will always work with you to create a menu to suit your budget and taste.

Over the past five years, we have been providing our clients with complete catering services for any event from intimate dinner parties and anniversaries to weddings, corporate office and business lunches, fundraising events, and everything in between. Our commitment to our clients and setting the highest standard of excellence is helping us to build a reputation as Langley’s leading caterer. Our staff are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and highly experienced with all levels of catering.

As a licensed caterer we have a bar service available, where we can provide you with a special addition to your event. Our staff is professional and friendly and can help provide you with a great experience. Please ask us what we can provide for you!

The Chef

Chef Ken Nishidate brings with him over 30 years of culinary and management experience. Black Walnut Catering is a chance to get out into the community and bring fresh ingredients and flavours to events and occasions of all sizes.

"I am a local guy who loves all the local products we have at our doorstep and wants to bring it to you. From products like cheeses from Golden Ears Cheese crafters in Maple Ridge and water buffalo from Abbotsford, to breads from A Bread Affair and even local brews from Andina and Field House and spirits from Roots and Wings, we use nothing but the finest and freshest. I love to experiment with my “comfort foods” and hope that you like the offerings we have for you. I’m always looking for great products and allowing them to shine in the dishes I create. Current Langley catering services require more local ingredients and we completely are surrounded by them, we just have to take them, & put them on your table."

Had a brunch menu for my wedding in March 2023 - it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The team was great to work with right from the planning stages, all the way up to execution on the day. The highlight for me, as the bride, was waiting to make our return entrance in to the venue as Mr & Mrs and Ken ran up with pre-cut, pre-syrupped waffles for us to snack on while we waited. INCREDIBLE CATERING FOOD/SERVICE! Communication was easy with Ken and his team, who quickly came up with a custom corporate lunch buffet. The meat and cheese platter is out of this world, the grilled chicken was tender and juicy and the rice pilaf had so much flavour. We were impressed at how “clean -tasting” the food is! Can't wait to order more from Black Walnut Catering Co!

One of the best choices I made at my wedding was choosing Ken and his wonderful staff as our caterers.

The food was exceptional, delicious, and delicately presented. The guests highly complimented the food, and unto this day, we still recieve comments on how exquisite the food was. Black Walnut Catering was the perfect choice for our wedding! We requested breakfast for dinner – not the most common wedding meal request – but it was absolutely perfect! Ken was flexible and accommodating, and included all of our favourite foods. It was a very special meal that we will never forget. We continue to receive compliments to this day!

The process was also incredibly straightforward and it was wonderful as a bride to know that the food was taken care of by someone with so much experience in the industry.
